Never transfer money before you have seen the property in person
and met the landlord. No deposit, no "holding fee", no first month —
nothing.
Never send documents — identity papers, permits or payslips —
to secure a viewing.
Be suspicious of a rent far below the market, a landlord who
is always abroad, pressure to pay today to "hold" the room, and any
request to pay by an untraceable method.
Get a written contract, registered where the law requires it,
and keep proof of everything you pay.
