Terms & Conditions
These Terms are the agreement between you and Italy Lions. They describe
what the platform is, what it costs, what you may and may not do here, and
what we can do if a rule is broken. By creating an account or using Italy
Lions, you accept them.
Last updated: 21 September 2026.
The four things most
people want to know.
- Italy Lions is 18+. You must be at least 18 years old to
create or use an account.
- Italy Lions is currently free. Nothing on this platform can
charge you. No card is taken and no subscription is running.
- Business Pro is coming soon — it is planned, and it is
not available and cannot be purchased.
- You are responsible for what you post and for your own
dealings with other members. Italy Lions is a platform, not a party
to your transactions.
1. Who we are, and what these Terms cover
Italy Lions is an independent online community platform for Sri Lankans
living in Italy, reachable at italylions.com. Operator details are in the
Legal Notice.
These Terms apply together with:
Where these Terms and one of those documents differ, the more specific one
governs its own subject; otherwise these Terms decide.
Italy Lions is not affiliated with the Government of Italy, the
Government of Sri Lanka, any embassy, consulate, public authority,
political party or religious institution. Content posted by members
represents their views, not ours. Italy Lions does not provide legal, tax,
immigration, employment, medical or financial advice.
2. Eligibility — Italy Lions is 18+
Users must be at least 18 years old to create or use an Italy Lions
account.
This applies to every part of the platform — the Feed, Reels, Stories, Lion
Messenger, Lion Market, business profiles, jobs, rentals, events, Lion
Transport, Lion Grocery, Lion Documents, Lion Education, Lion Wallet, Lion
Sports and every other service. There is no section of Italy Lions
available to anyone under 18.
Everyone confirms at registration that they are at least 18 years old, and
an account cannot be created without that confirmation. We do not
ask for a passport, an identity document, a photograph of your face or any
other identity check, and we do not collect a date of birth in order to
verify it — so we cannot prove any individual member's age. The
confirmation is a declaration you make, and making it falsely is a breach of
these Terms.
If we become aware that an account holder is under 18, we will close the
account and delete the personal data held for it. If you believe someone
under 18 has registered, tell us at
info@italylions.com.
Whether a particular event listed here admits under-18s is the
organiser's decision, not ours — see the
Event & Ticket Terms.
3. Your account
Registration and accurate information
- Provide true, current and complete information: your real name
and surname, your real city in Italy, a working email address and an
Italian mobile number that is yours.
- One personal account per person. One Italian mobile number
registers one account, and that is how we limit duplicate accounts and
scams.
- A business may have one business profile per business, created from a
personal account.
- Do not impersonate anyone — another member, a business you do
not run, a professional you are not, a public body, or Italy Lions.
- Keep your information up to date. Incorrect details may stop features
working and may lead to the account being restricted.
Account security
- Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication and
Italy Lions never sees it. Keep it private and do not reuse a
password from another site.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account.
Do not share your sign-in details or let anyone else use your account.
- Tell us immediately at
info@italylions.com if you
think somebody else has access to it.
- Italy Lions staff never ask for your password, never ask for
payment, and never ask you to move money. Anyone who does is not us.
Closing your account
- You may delete your account at any time, and you may ask us to do it
for you. What happens to your data is described in the
Privacy Policy.
4. What Italy Lions costs — and Business Pro
Italy Lions is currently available free of charge. Member accounts,
posting, comments, Stories, Reels, Lion Messenger, Lion Market listings,
business profiles, job listings, rental listings and ordinary community
event listings cost nothing.
Nothing is being charged, and nothing on this platform can charge
you. No payment provider is active, no card details can be entered, no
subscription is running, and there is no bill waiting at the end of a
trial. There is no paid promotion, paid placement, paid visibility or paid
ranking product on Italy Lions: you cannot pay to be seen more, and
no amount of money changes where your post or business appears.
Business Pro — coming soon
Italy Lions plans to offer an optional Business Pro subscription in
future. Today:
- Business Pro is not available. It cannot be bought, subscribed
to, reserved or activated, and no price has been set.
- Any Business Pro information shown on the platform is a description of
a planned future service, marked Coming Soon. It is not an
offer and creates no obligation on either side.
- Nothing you do on Italy Lions today enrols you in it or commits you to
pay for it later.
- When it becomes available, the features, the price and the terms will
be published before anyone can subscribe, and subscribing will be a
separate and entirely optional choice.
If paid services arrive
Additional optional paid services may be introduced in future. If they are:
- we will say so clearly and in advance;
- the price and what it includes will be shown before you commit;
- nobody is charged without choosing to pay first; and
- features that are free today will not be taken away and sold back to
you without notice.
Where an event organiser charges for their own event, the price and any
refund are set by that organiser and paid to them — Italy Lions is not a
party to it and receives nothing. See the
Event & Ticket Terms.
5. Your responsibilities and prohibited conduct
The full rules are in the
Community Guidelines, which form part of this
agreement. In summary, you must not use Italy Lions to:
- Do anything illegal, or arrange, advertise or assist anything
illegal — including stolen goods, counterfeit goods, drugs, weapons,
piracy, forged documents, and any content involving a person under 18 in
a sexual context.
- Commit fraud or run scams. No taking money for goods, services,
rooms, jobs, rides, documents or tickets you cannot or will not provide;
no advance-fee requests; no phishing; no pyramid or investment schemes.
- Post false information — fake business claims, fake reviews, fake
job offers, fraudulent rentals, invented prices or availability.
- Harass, threaten or abuse anyone. No personal attacks, no
threats, no stalking, no repeated unwanted contact.
- Post hate content — racism, casteism, religious abuse, or abuse
based on nationality, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender
identity, disability or age.
- Use vulgar or offensive language, in any language. Italy Lions
checks what you type on your own device, before it is sent; a
message or comment containing abusive words is refused, and nothing you
typed is stored or sent to us when that happens. Nobody reads your
private messages to do this — see the
Privacy Policy.
- Post sexual content or make sexual advances. Italy Lions is not
a dating platform.
- Spam. No repeated or automated posting, no re-listing to stay at
the top, no off-topic promotion in comments or private messages, no
chain messages.
- Breach other people's privacy — no publishing someone's address,
number, documents or immigration status, no doxxing, no posting private
conversations to expose somebody.
- Infringe copyright or post other people's work as your own.
- Interfere with the platform — no scraping, no bulk data
collection, no automated access, no attempt to break, overload or
circumvent security, access controls or another member's account.
- Evade enforcement. Creating a new account after being suspended
or removed is itself a breach.
Disagree with the idea, not the person. Making your case, saying you
had a bad experience with a business, or not agreeing with an opinion is
welcome here. Insulting the member who holds it is not.
6. Content you post, and the rights in it
- You keep ownership of the posts, comments, photographs, videos,
Stories, reviews and listings you publish.
- You grant Italy Lions a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence
to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and show your content
on the platform, for the purpose of operating Italy Lions. This
licence exists so the platform can display what you posted; it lets us
run the service and nothing more.
- The licence ends when you delete the content, except that copies may
remain in backups for a limited period, and content another member has
lawfully shared or which must be retained for a moderation record may
persist — see the
Privacy Policy.
- We do not sell your content, and we do not licence it to
advertisers or third parties for their own use.
- You confirm you have the right to post what you post, and that it does
not infringe anyone else's rights.
- Italy Lions does not pre-approve content before it appears, and does
not endorse it by hosting it. We may remove any content that breaches
these Terms or the Guidelines, and we may do so without prior
notice where the content is unlawful or harmful.
Comments, reviews and community posts
- Comments and replies are public and attributed to you.
- Reviews must describe a real experience you actually had. Do not review
your own business, pay for reviews, or review a competitor to damage
them. Honest criticism stays; fabricated praise and fabricated
complaints are removed.
- A business may reply to a review. It may not threaten or pressure the
reviewer, and doing so is a breach of these Terms.
7. Lion Messenger and private messages
- Private messages are between you and the person or business you wrote
to. Treat them as private, and do not publish somebody else's messages
to expose or shame them.
- Italy Lions staff do not routinely read members' private
messages. Authorised moderators may review a specific
conversation where it is necessary for safety, moderation or
enforcement — when a participant asks us to review it, or when a
message or conversation is reported. Access is limited to that
conversation, never to either member's other chats; every opening is
recorded before it happens; and it ends when the case is closed. See the
Privacy Policy.
- The rules on abuse, harassment, threats, scams and fraud apply in
private exactly as they do in public.
- We may close a conversation where our rules have been broken in it.
8. Lion Market
Lion Market listings are free.
- You are responsible for your own listing and your own
transaction. Italy Lions does not own, inspect, store, handle,
deliver, insure or guarantee anything listed, is not the seller or the
buyer, and is not a party to the sale.
- Describe the item honestly, including its faults, and use your own
photographs of the actual item.
- Do not list prohibited, counterfeit, stolen or unlawful goods, or goods
you are not entitled to sell.
- Italy Lions takes no payment for items and holds no money between
buyers and sellers. Any payment is made directly between you and the
other member, at your own risk.
Staying safe when you buy or sell.
- Never pay in advance to a stranger, and be very suspicious of
anyone asking for a deposit, a "release fee" or a top-up card before
you have seen the item.
- See the item before you pay. Meet in a public, busy place in
daylight, and take somebody with you where you can.
- Be wary of a price far below the market. It is the single most
common sign of a scam or of stolen goods.
- Check for counterfeits. Branded goods at an impossible price
are usually fake — and buying them can be an offence.
- Keep the conversation on the platform where you can. A seller
who immediately insists on moving elsewhere is a warning sign.
- Never send documents — identity papers, permits, payslips — to
a buyer or seller.
- Report it. Use the Report button on the listing, or write to
info@italylions.com.
9. Business listings
Business listings on Italy Lions are free.
- List only a real business you are entitled to represent, at its real
address, with contact details that work, and keep them accurate.
- A business profile here is a community listing. Italy Lions does
not verify a business's identity, licences, registration,
insurance, qualifications, solvency, or the quality or safety of what it
sells. A listing is not a verification, an endorsement, a
recommendation or a guarantee by Italy Lions, and you should satisfy
yourself about any business before dealing with it.
- You are responsible for meeting every legal, licensing, tax and fiscal
obligation your business has. Italy Lions does not check them and does
not advise on them.
- Do not claim a qualification, certification, registration, award or
approval you do not hold, and do not describe yourself as verified,
official or approved by Italy Lions.
- There is no paid promotion, paid placement or paid visibility product.
You cannot pay Italy Lions to rank a business higher.
- We may refuse, unlist or remove any business listing at our reasonable
discretion — in particular where it is misleading, unlawful, or the
subject of substantiated complaints.
10. Jobs
Job listings are free.
- Italy Lions is a listing platform. It is not an employer, not an
employment agency and not a recruiter, it is not a party to any
employment relationship, and it does not verify employers, vacancies,
pay, contracts or working conditions.
- Employers: list only work that genuinely exists; describe the
role, the place, the hours and the conditions truthfully; comply with
Italian employment and anti-discrimination law; and never charge a
candidate a fee to apply, to be considered or to be hired.
- Candidates: verify independently before you commit. Check who
the employer is, that the role is real, and what the contract, the pay,
the hours and the conditions actually are — in writing. Ask for a
written contract before you start.
- Never pay for a job. A genuine employer does not charge you to
be hired. Never hand over original documents, and never accept work
whose terms are kept deliberately vague.
- Italy Lions gives no employment-law guarantee of any kind and cannot
advise you on a contract. Where you are unsure, consult a qualified
adviser or a trade union.
11. Rentals and Lion Homes
Rental listings are free.
- Italy Lions is a listing platform. It is not a landlord, not a
letting agent and not a party to any tenancy, and it does not
inspect properties or verify ownership, habitability, safety
certificates or the right to let.
- Advertisers: list only a property you are entitled to let, with
accurate photographs, price and terms. Rental listings must not
discriminate unlawfully — including on nationality, ethnicity,
religion, sex, family status or disability.
- Never ask for money or documents before the member has seen the
property, and do not take a deposit for a property that is not
available.
- Renters: view it before you pay. Do not transfer money, a
deposit or documents before you have seen the property in person and
met the landlord. Get a written contract, registered where the law
requires it, and keep proof of everything you pay.
- Be suspicious of a price far below the market, a landlord who is
always abroad, pressure to pay today to "hold" a room, and any request
to pay by an untraceable method.
- Italy Lions gives no guarantee about any property, tenancy or landlord.
Where you are unsure, take advice from a qualified adviser or a
tenants' association.
12. Events and tickets
- Ordinary community event listings are free.
- Paid ticketing through Italy Lions is not currently available.
Free bookings work today; no payment provider is active and no charge
can be made on this platform.
- Events are run by their organisers, not by Italy Lions. Your
arrangement to attend is with the organiser.
- An Italy Lions QR code is a booking reference, not an Italian
fiscal ticket, and Italy Lions makes no claim of SIAE, tax or fiscal
compliance. Those obligations are the organiser's.
- The full terms are in the
Event & Ticket Terms, which apply to
every booking.
13. Lion Transport and community rides
- A ride offered here is a private arrangement between members.
Italy Lions is not a transport operator, not a taxi service and not
a carrier; it does not employ, license, vet or supervise drivers,
and it does not inspect vehicles or insurance.
- Drivers and hosts: you are responsible for your licence, your
vehicle's roadworthiness and your insurance, and they must cover the
journey you are offering. Do not offer paid passenger transport you are
not licensed to provide. Do not carry more passengers or goods than
your vehicle and your insurance permit.
- Passengers: satisfy yourself about the driver, the vehicle and
the journey before you travel. Share your plans with somebody you
trust. You travel at your own risk as to matters the driver controls.
- Any money agreed for a ride is between the members concerned. Italy
Lions takes no payment for rides and holds no money.
- Cargo and parcel services listed here are the operator's own service.
Italy Lions does not carry, handle, insure or guarantee any shipment.
14. The other Lion services
Italy Lions includes further community services — among them Lion Grocery,
Lion Documents, Lion Education, Lion Wallet, Lion Sports, Lion Meet Up,
religious-place listings and the Creators and Entertainment sections. Unless
a service's own screen states otherwise:
- they are currently free to use;
- they are provided as a platform. Where a service connects you to
a shop, a school, a teacher, a professional, a place of worship, a CAF,
a consultant or any other third party, that third party provides the
service and is responsible for it — Italy Lions does not verify
their qualifications, licences or advice;
- loyalty points, cards, balances, scores, rankings, badges and similar
features have no monetary value, are not money, are not
redeemable for cash, and may be adjusted or withdrawn where they have
been obtained in breach of these Terms or as a result of an error;
- documents, forms, guides and educational material on the platform are
general information, not professional advice, and must not be
relied on in place of a qualified adviser; and
- a service may be changed, limited or withdrawn — see section 19.
15. Moderation, removal, suspension and termination
We act on reports and on what we find. Depending on how serious the breach
is, whether it has happened before and what harm was caused, we may:
- issue a warning;
- remove or unlist content, a listing, a review or an event;
- close a Lion Messenger conversation;
- restrict a feature — posting, messaging, listing or reviewing;
- suspend the account temporarily;
- terminate the account permanently; and
- where the law requires it or a person is at risk, report the matter to
the authorities.
A reason is recorded with every action we take, so it can be
reviewed and explained to the member affected. Decisions are issued in the
name of Italy Lions; we do not name the moderator who acted, and we
do not name the member who reported.
We will normally tell you what was done and why. Where content is unlawful
or someone is at immediate risk, we may act first and explain afterwards.
Termination. You may stop using Italy Lions and delete your account
at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for a breach of these
Terms or the Guidelines, for unlawful conduct, for conduct that puts members
at risk, or where we are required to by law. Sections that by their nature
should survive — content licences already granted, liability, governing law
— survive termination.
16. Reporting and appeals
Use the Report button. It is on posts, comments, Stories, Reels,
Lion Market listings, Community ideas, member profiles, business profiles,
events and private messages, and every report goes to the same moderation
queue. Where a surface has no Report button, or the matter is urgent, write
to info@italylions.com with a link
and what happened. Reports are confidential.
If someone is in danger, call 112 first. Italy Lions cannot respond
to an emergency.
Appeals. If you think a decision about you was wrong, write to
info@italylions.com saying what was
removed or restricted and why. A person will look at it again and we will
tell you the outcome. Nothing here limits any right you have under Italian
or EU law.
17. Intellectual property and copyright complaints
The Italy Lions name, the lion emblem, the wordmark, the site design and
the platform's own text and code belong to the operator and may not be
copied or used to suggest an association with Italy Lions without written
permission. Member content remains the member's — see section 6.
To report an infringement of your copyright, write to
info@italylions.com with:
- the link to the content on Italy Lions;
- identification of the work you say it infringes;
- your name and contact details; and
- a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for
them, and that the complaint is made in good faith.
We will review it, remove or disable the content where the complaint is
substantiated, and notify the member who posted it so they may respond. A
member whose content is repeatedly removed for infringement may have their
account terminated. We do not adjudicate ownership disputes between two
claimants.
18. Third-party services and external links
- Italy Lions runs on services provided by others — Google Firebase for
sign-in, the database and photographs, and Hostinger for the website.
See the Privacy Policy.
- Posts may contain links to, or embedded video from, other
platforms — YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and similar. That
content belongs to whoever published it, is governed by that platform's
terms and privacy policy, and Italy Lions does not control, check or
endorse it. Playing an embedded video lets that platform set its own
cookies — see the Cookie Policy.
- External links are followed at your own risk. Italy Lions is not
responsible for the content, accuracy, safety or availability of any
website it links to. Be especially careful with any link asking for a
password, card details or documents.
- Where you contact a business or member through WhatsApp, Telephone,
Telegram or another channel offered on a profile, that conversation
happens on that service under its own terms, and outside Italy Lions.
19. Service availability and changes
- Italy Lions is provided as it is and as available. We do not
promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any
particular time, and we do not promise that content will never be lost.
- The platform depends on third-party services and on your own internet
connection and device, which we do not control.
- Keep your own copies of photographs, documents and anything else
that matters to you. Italy Lions is not a backup service.
- We may add, change, limit or withdraw features and whole services, and
we may carry out maintenance that makes the platform temporarily
unavailable. Where a change is significant and within our control, we
will give notice where it is reasonable to do so.
- These are community services offered free of charge; that is the basis
on which they are provided.
20. Limitation of liability
Italy Lions is a platform. It does not sell the goods listed on it,
does not employ the people advertising jobs, does not let the properties
advertised, does not organise the events listed, does not drive the
vehicles offered, and does not provide the professional services its
members offer. Your dealings with other members and with listed businesses
are your own, and you enter into them at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Italy Lions is not liable for:
- content posted by members, or anything a member does or fails to do;
- any transaction, contract, tenancy, employment, journey, event or
payment between you and anyone else;
- loss caused by fraud, misrepresentation or dishonesty by another member
or a listed business;
- the accuracy, quality, legality or safety of anything listed,
described, advertised or claimed on the platform;
- interruption, unavailability, delay, data loss or corruption; or
- indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity or
loss of data.
What is not excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits
liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability
for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and any
mandatory right you have as a consumer under Italian or EU law. Where a
limitation in this section is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
You are responsible for the content you post and for your use of the
platform, and for any loss you cause to another member or to Italy Lions by
breaching these Terms or the law.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms — for example when a new service launches, when
the law changes, or when something here turns out to be unclear. The date at
the top of this page shows when they last changed.
Significant changes will be announced on the platform rather than
made quietly, and will not be applied retroactively to something that has
already happened. Continuing to use Italy Lions after a change means you
accept the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the platform
and delete your account.
22. Governing law, and how to contact us
These Terms and your use of Italy Lions are governed by Italian
law, and the courts of Italy have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer,
this does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of the
country in which you live, and it does not prevent you bringing proceedings
where the law entitles you to.
If a provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the
rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion does not
mean we give it up.
